Lasts nights visit was successful for those who attended, thanks to John M0HFH for organizing the evening.
Some of the things we had a go at included glass blowing, glass work using a lathe, flow cutting and laser welding. Also had a play with John’s break time project a morse paddle key without the paddles.
Paul and John using glass pipe. Paul making a test tube & John blowing bubbles. |
The insulator is made from a glass rod. |
Garry’s attempt at making a Dog Bone insulator from Pyrex was excellent, he has a flair for Glass Blowing!
Paul was making nesting tubes for Bee’s, this involved cutting glass tube to a precise length and making a test tube end, both operations were carried out successfully, well done on your first attempt at a glass-blowing.
Gemma made a glass stirrer the starting point for elephant ears! well done Gemma; she thought she might take glass-blowing up as a new career.
John made various test tube ends from larger diameter tubing and blew some larger bulbs well done for having a go John.
perhaps we can bring a portable glass-blowing set up to club when the weather turns and we can sit outside and practise.
