Peter M0SVN is busy for the club at the moment. Last week he was the lead at our workshop night using the RTL dongles for SDR.

As mentioned at the club Wednesday, whilst on holiday last week I visited the Museum of Internal Fire at Tanygroes, Ceredigion. SA43 2JS. www.internalfire.com

As well as lots of engines they have lots of things of interest to the radio amateur including a radio room, radio equipment, testing equipment, telephone equipment, ships radio rooms and a small titanic display where you can also hear the last message sent by the Titanic.

The club was asked if we would like to operate from the Thornbury District Mueseum again.  So as part of Museums On The Air we did on Saturday 24th June.

Rex G4RAE and John M0HFH organised and setup the station using callsign GB4TDM. The bands available were 6m, 2m and 70cms.Peter G4OST, Mike G0JMD and Garry G7NVZ also took to the airwaves and operated the station

The furthest we got was a station in Italy. We also had contacts with other event stations though some of these were for Armed Forces Day. Other contacts were had with friends from GARES and other stations both mobile and fixed around the area.

Very quick post regarding last weekends Waitrose On-Air Roadshow event. First wanting to thank Waitrose and specifically Shirley (my contact) for organising with us. I am sure that all those who took part and visited us at the store on Saturday last would agree it a success.

Rather surprisingly we actually made some reasonable contacts on 2m repeaters but more importantly were able to meet the general public and of course star of the show just go to Rex for the morse tutorial with the children (seen here).

We shall certainly be putting this in the calendar for next year and hopefully repeating the process. Thoughts are now to our next roadshow location.

Tonight was the mobile foxhunt. Peter (2E0UAR) was the fox.

Paul (M0ZMB) was first to find him

There were five teams out looking for the fox, of which four found him eventually. The last two to find did have to rely on some big clues from Peter to his location.

The fox was hidden at the bottom point of the small blue triangle to the right of the picture below.

Total distance travelled about 30miles. As you can see some of us went a bit further afield, even though we only started about a mile or so from the foxes den. The fox was well hidden.
